#013: What I Worked on Today

I'm working on a new design for my personal website which will serve as my portfolio. Right now you can view it at vivid-expression.net. Despite the CSS3 and JQuery additions to the page, the design is extremely minimalist and I found it boring.

So, I opened up photoshop and using a .PSD template from 978.gs, I whipped this up.

I attempted to pull off the background gradient in CSS3 but I backed out of it because my stylesheet was looking a hot mess. I think absolute positioning, floats, and z-indices have their place but I like to use them sparingly. 

I plan to make this into a wordpress theme, but right now, I'm making sure the design works in as many browsers as possible.
